Sanad

Halal stock screener

Sanad's screener lists 280 companies across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and the US, each checked against AAOIFI Standard 21. Filter by Shariah verdict, exchange, country, sector, market cap, debt and non-permissible income, then open any company for the full screen.

How the screen works

Every company goes through the same steps, in order:

  1. Business activity. Companies whose core business is conventional banking or insurance, alcohol, tobacco, gambling or similar are excluded straight away.
  2. Debt. Interest-bearing debt must be below 30% of market capitalisation.
  3. Interest income. Non-permissible income must be below 5% of revenue.

A company that passes all three is compliant. One that is close to a limit (debt 27–30% or income 4–5%) is questionable. Read the two-step test and what each verdict means for the detail.

Questions

Is a halal stock screener the same as a fatwa?

No. A screener applies published rules, here AAOIFI Standard 21, to a company's reported numbers. It is a research aid. Scholars differ on some thresholds, so check your own scholar if you need a personal ruling.

Which markets does Sanad cover?

Saudi Arabia (Tadawul), Qatar (QSE), the UAE (ADX and DFM), and US stocks on NASDAQ and NYSE, with crypto, ETFs and Sukuk screened under their own frameworks.

How often are the results updated?

Prices and ratios refresh daily, and financial statements update as companies file them, usually quarterly. Each company page shows when its data was last updated.

Automated screening based on published AAOIFI standards. Not a fatwa and not investment advice.
